We know very little of James but what tradition has told us was that James was the physical brother of Jesus. When you read his letter, you begin to hear a little of Jesus and his upbringing. James wanted his listeners to be both spiritual and practical. He wanted you to know that when you read his letter you wouldn’t say ‘oh how nice’ rather it shows us ‘how to be nice’.
